Advantages of the patented EnOcean Technology

Radio switches and sensors "supply themselves" by available environmental energy that exists everywhere in small amounts. Switches for example can be supplied with the mechanical operation energy, temperature sensors with the temperature difference to the environment, vibration sensors with vibration energy, position sensors with motion energy, light sensors with light energy and so on. As simple as the idea seems to be, its consistent realization could be made possible only recently at Siemens Corporate Technology. Final products are for example light switches that emit a radio signal when being pressed. This signal contains a unique identification number. It can be registered by a receiving unit up to 300 meters away, which can now switch on or off the corresponding lamp. The battery-less radio switches allow the operation of whole installation systems in buildings (light, window shades, window contacts, and so on) without any cables to the switches.
